Hello Families!
On this page you can see what we are working on in our tiered groups during this unit. Additional resources and ga are listed on the tab for each grade. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Mrs. McGonigal
Reading Tier 2:
We are working in the Open Court Reading Program for Kindergarten. This program helps students gain phonemic awareness, letter knowledge, and builds on their ability to blend letter sounds.
Math Tier Group:
In math groups we look for gaps between student knowledge and the Eureka curriculum. Students in this group are currently working 1-1 correspondence (making sure they are touching the amount they are counting) through 10, number formation to 10, and counting to 20.
Reading Tier 2:
We are working in the From Phonics to Reading program in the kindergarten level to fill in gaps and give additional practice in letters, sounds, and early blending. As we build on these skills, we will work on reading fluency and gain more sight word knowledge.
Reading Tier 3:
We will be working on letters and sounds using Fundations Level 1.
Math Tier Group:
In math groups we look for gaps between student knowledge and the Eureka curriculum. Currently, we are working with related addition and subtraction facts. We are also incorporating number bonds and early numeracy concepts, like 1-1 correspondence using chip counters to help us solve problems, counting to 100, and knowing when to add or subtract for a word problem.
Reading Tier 2:
We are working in the From Phonics to Reading program on Level A. We are working on reading CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, early sight words, word patterns, and gaining reading fluency.
Math Tier Group:
In math groups we look for gaps between student knowledge and the Eureka curriculum. We are currently working on adding and subtracting using a make and break a ten strategies and connecting that to measurement.
