Red Apple Grants

Awarded each school year to support innovative and enriching academic opportunities in the classroom. Who knows better than our classroom teachers how to motivate students to reach beyond ordinary learning? Grants have been awarded in almost all academic areas from reading and math to the arts, music, and technology.

Warsaw Community Schools Annual Chess Tournament

Because studies have shown children who learn chess gain increased concentration, enhanced reasoning, logic, and improved cognitive skills.  The WEF is quite proud to be a primary sponsor of the Annual Chess Tournament which recognizes students for their ability as well as their desire to master the game of chess. All Warsaw Community Schools' chess club supplies were purchased with funds from the WEF and all awards presented at the Annual Chess Tournament are made possible by the WEF.

N.E.W. Opportunities Workshop

Allows high school girls to explore careers in fields they may have thought were only for men.  N.E.W. stands for Nontraditional Employment for Women. Careers such as carpenter, bricklayer, attorney, and air traffic controller are traditionally thought of as being "for men only."  The WEF recognizes the importance of providing this academic exploration opportunity for our young women and has committed to sponsoring this workshop each year.  This event has become a model in the State of Indiana and has been presented at national conferences.
