The Warsaw Education Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to excellence in education.
The Foundation's purpose is to financially support innovative, creative academic projects in Warsaw Community Schools for which funding is unavailable.
This is done through grants provided directly to educators within Warsaw Community Schools.
The WEF's 20+ member volunteer board is comprised of community leaders who are passionate about education and who realize that tax dollars and basic curriculum are not enough to provide the cutting-edge educational experiences that keep students academically successful.
HISTORY
In 1987, business leaders from First National Bank, Penguin Point, United Telephone, and Zimmer established the Warsaw Community Foundation for Public Education. These insightful leaders were interested in aiding Warsaw Community Schools in its mission to provide all students the best academic education possible and to financially partner with local businesses, community groups, and parents toward that end.
TODAY
To date, the WEF has awarded more than a quarter of a million dollars in grants to teachers. While today's Foundation board is proud of this endeavor, it is convinced that parents, businesses, and community groups can work together to do even more for our youth. Federal and state monies for educational programs have continually decreased. For the past several years, the WEF has received many more grant requests than it is able to fund. Spurred by this growing gap between students' needs and monies available to fund these needs, the board of directors has taken action in recent years by increasing the fundraising and programming efforts of the Warsaw Education Foundation.
TOMORROW
Looking toward the future, the WEF will continue to partner with the community to increase program funding that inspires creative teaching for the unique individual needs of our students.
