Our goal for the school year is to create classroom environments where students will always feel welcome, safe, and, most importantly, excited to learn!
Check back regularly for updates and important information.
Don't forget to check out the different resources available under the introduction.
Please take some time to browse our PE website. Each tab at the top has a drop down linking to more information. We work hard to keep the website up to date and often you can find answers to many of your questions by visiting the website. We highly encourage you to focus on being fit and understand how to be fit and to stay fit. Refer to the announcements tab at this time to review Physical Education expectations and other school procedures.
Classroom Expectations
Appropriate physical education behavior is expected at all times. Classes will be reviewing some basic rules and coming up with some on their own that we believe are reasonable for us all to follow. We prefer to use positive reinforcement in the gym, although if inappropriate behavior occurs, students will receive appropriate consequences such as a warning, time-out, loss of a privilege, behavior referral, call to parents, and/or meeting with the principal. Each class has its own unique classroom management routines to help encourage and reinforce positive physical education behavior. Each student should have gym shoes on at the time of their class. Each day your child has gym (two times a week) make sure he/she is wearing comfortable clothes and any type of tennis shoes. Boots and flip flops are not permitted.
Lost & Found
Please make sure to have identification labels or permanent marker names on each coat, sweater, jacket and/or sweatshirt that your child wears to school. Each year we end up giving many articles of clothing to Goodwill.
Please also label your child's lunch box.
Miscellaneous Information
If your child has a medical condition please have him/her bring a note to the nurse and also to the physical education teacher so we know of any restrictions that we might need for that student.
GAMES AT HOME
SCRABBLE RUSH – IT’S SCRABBLE, WITH A “RUSH” OF EXERCISE!
Posted on March 31, 2020 by jcahill
Did you play Scrabble as a child? Maybe you still play as an adult. I still enjoy it for multiple reasons.
Game time means family time
Keeps our minds sharp
Increases our vocabulary
Enhances our strategic thinking
It’s fun!
Scrabble Rush is fun for all the above reasons and MORE! Simply stated, it’s a turbocharged version of the original game.
Scrabble Rush incorporates fitness, vocabulary, math skills, and fun!
Here’s how to play!
Scrabble Tiles are included. Students can work on fine motor skills by cutting out each one. If you already have a Scrabble game, use the real tiles.
Equipment: 100 Scrabble tiles (If you have a Scrabble game, feel free to use the tiles), 1 scorecard and pencil per player, 1 cup per player, 1 timer
To Begin: Spread out the Scrabble tiles face down on one side of a room. Each player places a scorecard and a cup on the floor on the opposite side of the room. The game can be played outdoors as well.
Game Play: There are six exercises listed below. After completing the first exercise, pick one Scrabble tile and add it to your cup. Repeat for each exercise. Try to acquire as many tiles as possible in two minutes. You will most likely complete the list of exercises multiple times. When time expires, it’s time to empty your cup to spell as many words as possible in three minutes. Write each word on your scorecard. Calculate the score for each word by adding the point value of each letter used. After recording a word on your scorecard, letters can be used again to spell a different word. Work with a partner or alone! Either way, you’re sure to have fun!
After completing each exercise, pick one Scrabble tile and add it to your cup.
