Testing

Our second and third grade students will both take part in the IRead-3 assessment in March. Students will take the assessment in two days with second grade taking it the first week of the testing window (March 5th and 6th) and third grade taking the test the second week of the window (March 12th and 13th). Not all third graders will be taking the test this year. If they passed the test as a second grader, they do not have to take the test this year.

Second graders will be taking the test once again as a part of the state pilot. Any second grader that passes the test will have to take the test as a third grader. The information we are able to get from second grade test scores, helps us better prepare those who do not pass for the administration of the test as a third grader. Second grade parents will receive our testing pilot letter via parent square later this week.

During your child's testing days, you can help us support students for the best testing experience by helping in the following ways.

School Carnival

The school carnival is just a few short weeks away. Our PTO is hard at work planning all of the festivities. Please mark your calendars for Friday, March 8th from 6-8PM and be on the lookout for presales of tickets. You can get your tickets early and just pick up your wristband as you enter that night or you can pay for your tickets upon entry. Presale tickets are $8 and ticket price at the door is $10. To help ease the plan of dinner on Carnival night, families can also preorder whole pizzas for carnival night and they can be picked up at the cafeteria. Whole pizza presale prices are $10 each and $12 the night of the event. There will be a silent auction, face painting, photo booth, balloon animals, games and prizes for all ages and concessions. It will no doubt be a fun night for the whole family!

We also need volunteers to help us set up, clean up and man the games in the gym. If you are interested in helping us make carnival night a success, we'd love your help! You can purchase presale ticekts and pizz as well as sign up to help at the link below.

New Staffers

We are excited to welcome three new staffers this semester. Mrs. Ghanghas (or Ms. Swati) has taken over in Mrs. Erickson's third grade classroom with the unexpected leave of Mr. Hood. She will be with us through the end of the year. We have a long term sub leave in the library while Miss Biltz recovers from illness. While Miss Biltz is out, we welcome Mrs. Deck to the library. Finally, Mrs. Rego moved after Christmas from our fourth grade para position to be our full time music teacher. Taking her place in fourth grade as our new para is Mrs. Bryant. I hope all of these faces become familiar to you as we are thrilled to have them in our halls helping to love on our lions.

Lincoln Leadership

Our lion leaders have been working so hard this year and we have been so impressed with the leadership movement that has taken place in our first year of implementation. This year our students have learned the seven habits - one each month, kept a leadership binder to reflect on how they are using the habits, met with buddy classrooms to practice the habits, led and taken part in monthly leadership assemblies and most recently, applied for and plugged into building wide leadership roles. Various Lincoln leaders are paving the way in shared leadership with jobs around our building that show pride and ownership in their school and help carry the load. We are excited to highlight what our first year of our leadership academy work has looked like and how this is taking root in our students at our very first annual Leadership Day that will be held on Friday, May 17th. Invitations to honored guests in the community will be sent out so our students can present about what it looks like to be a Leader in Me school.

Our building Recess Cart Monitors are taking carts out to the playground for daily recess.
