Claypool Elementary STEM: From Novelty to Normal

Over the past two years, Warsaw Community Schools leadership has been deeply engaged in solidifying and expanding the district's reputation as a leader in STEM education in Indiana. Recognizing the importance of STEM education, the leadership team held discussions and strategic planning sessions to define Warsaw's standout qualities in STEM. This involved meetings with industry leaders from across the state to gain insights into the latest trends and demands in STEM fields, ensuring the curriculum meets current standards and anticipates future needs.

In addition to state-level collaborations, Warsaw Community Schools partnered with local industries and community members to develop a robust plan that reflects both global advancements and local opportunities. Crucially, input from students and families was gathered through surveys, focus groups, and forums, ensuring the curriculum aligns with their needs and interests. This inclusive approach has helped shape a forward-looking vision for STEM education that emphasizes innovation, hands-on learning, and real-world applications.

The town grew during the expansion of the railroad in northern Indiana and became a small agricultural and industrial hub.

2. Railroad History: Claypool was an important stop on the Pennsylvania Railroad, which brought economic growth and trade opportunities to the area. The town's location along the railroad made it a key point for transporting goods and passengers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

3. Claypool Elementary School: The current Claypool Elementary School is part of the Warsaw Community Schools district and serves students in grades K-6. It plays a vital role in the local community, providing education and extracurricular activities with a strong emphasis on STEM integration.
