A few notes about the gradebook....
1. If you see a blank grade, the student is NOT missing an assignment. The blank spot just means that the teacher has put the assignment in the gradebook, but has not posted the grades for that assignment. We try not to post assignments early, but sometimes we might post it and only have a chance to put one class in. Also, if a student is absent, he or she may have a blank spot on the gradebook. until he or she turns the assignment in
2. If you see a "Z" in the gradebook, that is BAD!!! Z-s are = to a ZERO!! That means the student has not turned in the assignment by the due date. Please understand that when your child SWEARS that they turned their assignment in, he or she may have, but they probably didn't put their name on it which is why it has resulted in a "Z". If students are absent, they may also have a "Z" until they turn in their missing work. "Z's" can be made up until the test day!
3. If you see an "X" in the gradebook, that is ok (not good or bad). X's = "excused". This is usually for a grade that was taken while a student was absent and cannot be made up. It does not hurt the grade and it does not help the grade. It just means the student is excused from the assignment.
I hope this helps with any confusion!!
Please don't ground your kids for X's or blank grades :) E-mail us if you have any questions!
