The second-grade curricular focus area is the art element SPACE.
SPACE- volume that can be emptied or filled with objects, has width, height and depth: the distance or area between, around, above, below, or within objects, there is POSITIVE SPACE (space that is being occupied) and NEGATIVE SPACE (“empty” area, unoccupied space)
