Students will be introduced to the agricultural and environmental career field while examining the principles of food science, natural resource management, animal science and management, plant and horticultural science, river technology and bioscience. Further, students will examine the FFA organization and develop communication and leadership skills.

Students will explore their career interests through embedded activities. Career exploration strategies are opportunities for students to discover work environments and understand the various aspects of the workplace. Strategies include tools and instruments that help students understand and appreciate their strengths and interests. Students start plans for their future with career information and post secondary education data. Plans will be developed for course selection and goals.
Course Name: Principles of Marketing/Strategic Entrepreneurship
Instructor: Mrs. Hicks
This course introduces students to the opportunities offered in Marketing/Entrepreneurship. Students will gain knowledge and skills in marketing communications, management and research. They will use technology to select potential customers and create a business plan that involves calculating forecast/breakeven costs. Students will gain real-world experience by operating the Warren Middle School Store while learning how to design additional products for the store, set prices, promote products through advertisement, and manage customer relationships. They will gain knowledge of marketing strategies, employability skills, business ethics/law, and principles of economics. Technology, leadership traits, and communications will be included in classroom activities. Many guest speakers from the community who own or operate a business will be brought in throughout the course to discuss opportunities in their business fields. Students will also be involved in a service project as a way of giving back to the community.
Course Name: Advanced Art

This course is designed for identified talented visual art students. Students should be able to work independently on rigorous individual and group projects which will include both two dimensional and three dimensional works. Students should be prepared to commit to work outside of class time and participation in art competitions and public art displays. The course seeks to refine art making skills and teach a process of developing a personal, unique, and individual image. The maximum class size is 15 students.
Course Name: Modern Teen Literature

Students will explore modern/newly released teen literature that is of high interest and applicable to real life situations they are currently facing. Students will analyze, in depth, the literary elements they discover within the novels. The students will participate in a variety of literature circles and small group discussions. Students will be given opportunities to express understanding/comprehension through project based learning and written expression. This course to geared toward the avid reader who enjoys exploring the lives of the characters they encounter in literature.
Course Name: Anatomy
Instructor: Mrs. Vincent

Description: This course will emphasize the structure and function of the human body and career choices in health related fields. The main topics will include levels of organization, life functions, and anatomical vocabulary. We will cover the main body systems, including the diseases and health choices associated with them, and careers associated with those areas. The course will culminate in a fetal pig dissection. The course is designed to give the student a base of knowledge that can be expanded upon in the high school level course.
Course Name: Digital Media

The Digital Media elective will help in the documentation of events and people at the events here and associated at WMS. This will include program designs for band and handbell concerts, taking and compiling pictures from events, general layout designs and updating a student run website, and help designing and proofreading the yearbook.

Connecting with the public, students will be creating and uploading a school newspaper that will incorporate WMS events as well as community events in newspaper format.
Course Name: Advanced PE

The Advanced Physical Education elective is an extension of the Foundations of Physical Education. Students will gain an increased knowledge and adaptation to the practical nature of teamwork, cooperation skills, game strategies, sportsmanship, game officiating of advance activities and advance fitness.
Course Name: Plan Reading (Full Year)

Students learn blueprint reading as it relates to the architecture and construction. Students will use scaling, orthographic projections, dimension practices, symbols, notations, and abbreviations to perform area calculations and to interpret floor plan, section, and elevations. Using construction plans, students will identify problems or shortcomings related to the layout and installation of materials for the project.
Course Name: Manufacturing Operations (Full Year)

Students will learn the production processes applied across manufacturing operations. Students will be able to demonstrate a broad array of technical skills with an emphasis given to quality practices, measurement, maintenance and safety.
Course Name: Finance

Students will learn aspects of personal finance including earning a paycheck and paying taxes, maintaining a bank account, obtaining credit, managing a budget, saving for retirement, and dealing with unexpected financial crises.
Course Name: Fun with Science
Instructor: Mr. Rowland
This course will focus on properties of materials as they relate to suitability for product design. Students will assess basic properties of materials (i.e. density, strength, malleability, conductivity, etc.) and incorporate these as they build product prototypes using basic engineering design processes. Product examples include boats, bridges, cars, heating/cooling devices, etc. This course will require hands-on participation.

The course is designed to teach basic music reading skills through the art of English Handbell ringing. A variety of handbell literature will be performed ranging from hymn settings and seasonal music to popular tunes. There will be one or two mandatory performances outside of the classroom. Students must have two pairs of black cotton gloves ($5.00), payable to the instructor. Class enrollment is limited to 12 students.
Course Name: Creative Writing

Students will develop their creative writing skills with emphasis on building skills and expertise as writers. Instruction will focus on the writing of narrative short stories where students can refine their skills using writing strategies which focus on planning, drafting, editing and revising to produce quality, final products. Ultimately, students will use the skills they develop during this course to analyze and evaluate their own writing which will lead to creative, independent writers.
