Q: How much tuition assistance can I expect if accepted into the Grow Your Own Programs?
A: The level of financial assistance is determined by several factors, including the certification sought, the university of enrollment, and the participant’s current role within WCPS. In general, participants may anticipate coverage ranging from two-thirds to the full cost of tuition. Tuition support is provided collaboratively by WKU and WCPS and is applied only after all other scholarships and forms of financial aid have been utilized
Q: Do I have to attend Western Kentucky University in order to participate in the Grow Your Own program?
A: All Classified-to-Certified participants and Aspiring Administrator participants are required to enroll at Western Kentucky University. Aspiring WCPS Teacher Scholars (high school graduates) are strongly encouraged to attend WKU, as the level of financial assistance is greater for participants enrolled there. However, recent high school graduates may choose to attend another in-state university with an accredited teacher certification program and will remain eligible to receive tuition assistance from WCPS.
Q: How many years will I need to commit to Warren County Public Schools to fulfill my Assistance Agreement?
A: Upon completion of your degree with an earned certificate, three years. Those who pursue a rank change through Bloomboard are commiting for four year after the completion of the program.
Q: What if I am unable to fulfill my contractual obligations and either do not complete my program or do not fulfill my three year commitment to WCPS?
A: Participants who are unable to fulfill their contractual obligations will be asked to reimburse the district for all tuition assistance received to that point.
