Students are welcome to wear costumes on Friday. Please abide by the following rules:

• No masks during the day - Students' faces should remain visible for safety. Students do not need anything that obscures their vision. They may wear a mask for the duration of their class party.

• No weapons/props - Toy weapons and other props should be left at home.

• Elementary-friendly - Costumes should avoid gore, fake blood, or other items that would be too scary for young children.

• Access to independent bathroom use - Costumes should not interfere with students’ ability to use the bathroom independently.

• No inflatable costumes - These are noisy and difficult to sit in.

• Safe footwear required - Students must have proper footwear to participate in recess or PE.

We are happy to welcome parents/guardians to fall class parties on Friday! They will take place from 2:45pm-3:15pm. Please remember to bring your photo ID when you enter the building. Parents will be allowed to check out students at the conclusion of the party. 

One of my goals as principal is to make sure we keep our focus on the mission of "Each Child, Each Day." This means we will look at each child individually and strive to see them grow as students and leaders. State testing is a small part of that equation, but is often given too much importance. A single data point doesn't tell the complete story, but multiple data points can help paint a better picture.

This week our 2026 Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) scores were released and the result that excites me the most is we have achieved our highest levels of proficiency in every subject area since 2022! This trend is one of the things that I'm most excited about because it shows a sustained improvement across multiple areas of our school!

The Kentucky Department of Education provides a score for each subject area based upon the percentage of students who fall into each performance category: Novice (0), Apprentice (.5), Proficient (1), Distinguished (1.25). Plano had the highest score for math and reading in WCPS! We had the second highest score for science and writing, and the third highest for social studies. 

Finally, the state assigns a color rating based upon our overall score. Plano was assigned the highest rating: blue! 

I'm very pleased with the results from our students. They performed brilliantly and have results to show for it! I'm also grateful for our staff who put our Panthers in a position to be successful! Individual KSA results will be given to parents on November 2.
