Wishing our Panther families a safe, fun, and relaxing break! 🐾
We can’t wait to see everyone back at school on Monday October 13!
On Monday we hosted several members of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. Our student lighthouse team provided tours of the school, and classroom greeters explained how leaders are cultivated at Plano. Several visitors expressed astonishment with the soft skills of our students. They were not accustomed to seeing students lead conversations, maintain leadership portfolios, and display ownership of their school like our Panthers. It was another great reminder of the exceptional talent and skills of our students!
At Plano, we support our school-wide goals through the “4 Disciplines of Execution.” One important part of this process is that each student is responsible for completing two weekly lead measures:
Pass two iReady Reading lessons
Pass two iReady Math lessons (6th grade only needs to complete one)
Students are given class time to complete these lessons, but they may also work on them at home if needed. The lessons are individualized and adjust based on each child’s progress. For this reason, please do not provide students with answers—the program will move them ahead too quickly and place them at levels they are not ready for.
Why do we focus on lead measures?
Our data shows that students who consistently meet their lead measures are much more likely to reach or exceed grade-level expectations by the end of the year.
Reading:
All students: 46.6% reached mid or above grade level
Students who met lead measures: 57.8% reached mid or above grade level
Math:
All students: 43.7% reached mid or above grade level
Students who met lead measures: 60.1% reached mid or above grade level
The bottom line:
When students complete their lead measures, they are far more likely to finish the year at or above grade level!

Appointments that do not require an all day absence will not be excused for the entire school day unless driving distance is a factor or specified on the excuse. A parent note will be required along with the doctor’s note to excuse your student absence. This excuse will go in as a parent note. Examples would be: orthodontist, dentist, vision, mental health, chiropractic, well checks, speech, OT/PT etc.
Parents/guardians are the most important teachers in a student's life, and we are honored to partner with you this year. We have designated November 3rd as parent-teacher conference day, but we are always willing to schedule meetings during the year as needed. You are welcome to contact your child's teacher through talking points or clicking the button at the top of this newsletter labeled "parent-teacher conference."
Families can help us easily gain more federal funding by completing the household income form. A large portion of our federal funding is provided based upon the information collected from this form. This year we have used federal funds to add an extra teacher position to lower class sizes and prevent any combined-grade classes. I completed the form myself and it only took a few minutes. Please contact our Family Resource Coordinator, Emily McQueen, if you have any questions.
If you would like to send in an attendance note please send to Amber Beil at: amber.beil@warren.kyschools.us
If you need to make a transportation change please send to Plano transportation before 2:00 at: plano.transportation@warren.kyschools.us.
