Warren County Public Schools

Digital Citizenship

Warren County Public Schools (WCPS) is dedicated to equipping our students with the 21st-century skills necessary to be successful in college and/or career. One of the most important aspects of being a 21st-century learner is being a good digital citizen.

WCPS supports our teachers and schools with curriculum and resources in order to equip our students with the 21st-century skills necessary for establishing a positive presence while using digital tools.

These curriculum resources are in alignment with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) technology standards, Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA), and the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).

We are utilizing multiple curriculum resources including Common Sense Education and Kentucky Department of Education's Digital Drivers License for teaching the 9 elements of Digital Citizenship.

9 Elements of Digital Citizenship

  • Digital Access

  • Digital Commerce

  • Digital Communication

  • Digital Etiquette

  • Digital Health & Wellness

  • Digital Law

  • Digital Literacy

  • Digital Rights & Responsibility

  • Digital Security

Employees: As outlined in the board-approved technology plan, all employees are responsible for student instruction in internet safety and digital citizenship. These resources are designed to meet the board requirements. Classroom teachers are encouraged to incorporate these concepts in as many content lessons as possible. Additional assistance in implementing internet safety and digital citizenship lessons is available from the WCPS Technology Office staff.
