A Message from the Principal, Dr. Butts
July 17, 2026
Dear Bluebird Families,
I hope you are continuing to enjoy a wonderful summer with your family and friends!
On July 6, I shared our first back-to-school letter with important dates and information for the 2026–2027 school year. As we get closer to the beginning of school, I wanted to send a second update with new information, additional reminders, and forms that families may need to complete.
We are excited to welcome our Bluebirds back as we begin another year of learning, leadership, and success!
Our school-wide theme for the 2026–2027 school year is:
🎮 Game On: Level Up for Learning, Leadership, & Success!
This year, we are challenging every Bluebird to level up as a learner, leader, and teammate as we continue working together to ensure that Every Child Succeeds!

Please come meet your child’s teacher, visit classrooms, bring school supplies, and get ready for a fantastic school year! Kindergarten families are also invited to attend Open House.
Families of students in first through sixth grade will receive their child’s homeroom teacher assignment on August 6 an hour before Open House begins. The information will be sent to the email address and/or phone number listed in Infinite Campus.
Wednesday, August 12, 2026
We cannot wait to welcome all of our Bluebirds back for another amazing school year!
Doors open at 8am. School Day starts at 8:30am.
Parents and guardians are welcome to walk their Bluebirds to class on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 12.
For the safety of our students and staff, all visitors must check in through the RAPTOR visitor management system, which requires a scanned driver’s license.
To help us reduce wait times on the first morning, please complete the First Day Visitor Badge Form. We will use this information to pre-print badges and have them ready outside the front doors.
If your driver’s license has not previously been scanned into our RAPTOR system, please bring it to Kindergarten Night or Open House so that you can be registered before the first day of school.
Complete the First Day Visitor Badge Form:

Early drop-off is available from 7:30–8:00 AM for families who need this option because of work obligations. Due to limited space and staffing, early drop-off should only be used by families who have a genuine need for supervision before regular arrival begins. Also, drop off will be in the bus loop starting at 7:30 am as a staff member will be outside to escort or watch the child enter into the school building.
Families who plan to use early drop-off must complete the registration form below:

📝 Coming Soon: Household Income Form
Following Open House, all families will receive information about completing the Household Income Form, also known as the HIF.
We are urging every family to complete the form and provide the requested household information. Your participation can directly help Alvaton Elementary receive additional funding for important programs, services, and resources.

Completing the form also helps Alvaton Elementary remain eligible to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision, or CEP, which allows all of our students to receive free breakfast and lunch.
We need your help!
✅ Complete one form per family.
✅ List all WCPS students living in your household.
✅ Provide the requested household information.

Mrs. McClard and I will send additional information closer to Open House explaining how and when to complete the form.

If your Talking Points app is not working, it may be because you do not have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Talking Points is linked directly to the Parent Portal, so without one, the system cannot connect.
To set up your Parent Portal, we must be able to provide you with a username and password, therefore please contact our office during office hours and we will help get you set up. Thank you!
Please take a few minutes to view the slideshow presentation about our school and Title I program. After viewing, we kindly ask that you complete this very short survey—your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time and support!
If your child loses or misplaces an item during the school year, please encourage them to visit the lost and found area. The lost and found area will be cleaned out at the end of each month; therefore, it is important that students keep up with their items and check the lost and found area regularly. Parents and guardians are welcome to check in at the front office and check the lost and found area, if needed.
Students who come through the car rider line may be dropped off between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. Class begins promptly at 8:30 AM. Your child will be counted tardy if they come in after 8:30am.
Each day we hear wonderful reports of how our faculty and staff are going above and beyond, and these reports are something we would love to collect into one location and share! If there is a faculty or staff member of Alvaton Elementary who has gone above and beyond for your student/family, please take a moment to give them a shout-out by clicking here. We know hearing your authentic and kind words of appreciation will make their day even brighter! Thank you for all that you do!

United Way of Southern Kentucky’s (UWSK) 2-1-1 program is a great resource for those who need a little extra help. No matter the needs such as housing/shelter, food, utilities assistance, support groups, employee assistance and more, UWSK’s 2-1-1 team is available to help connect area residents with available community resources. Upon receiving calls from community members, the 2-1-1 team accesses various databases of resources and connects the callers to the appropriate agencies to receive assistance. To access the line, simply dial 2-1-1.
Alvaton Elementary fully implements tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3 for PBIS. Please click here to learn more about how PBIS positively impacts the learning environment at our school!

Staying healthy is an important part of education. If your child doesn’t have health insurance, you may qualify for KCHIP, Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program. It provides comprehensive coverage at no cost. There are many students across the district who qualify but are not signed up. To find out more, go to kidshealth.ky.gov or call (877) 524-4718 – because every child needs health insurance.
