Hope Herrera
Mrs. Herrera is a very wonderful teacher. She started teaching 4th grade, because it was a great opportunity, and she wanted to teach a higher grade level. She got asked to teach this grade after Mr. Baldwin left, and she is doing an amazing job.
The biggest difference for Mrs. Herrera teaching kindergarten to 4th grade is the curriculum and more grading. Everything is at a higher level. Mrs. Herrera likes teaching 4th grade because she can learn with her students. They can be having a serious conversation or laughing a lot. Mrs. Herrera used to teach 4th grade in Oakland, California. She also taught 2nd and 3rd grades.
Lately 4th grade has been studying graphic novels and writing them. They’ve also been learning about the civil rights movement and even Earthquake engineering. They’re building models that should withstand earthquakes.
Mrs. Herrera enjoys teaching 4th grade because her students take delight in learning new things. They sometimes have serious conversations or break out laughing. Mrs. Herrera says she likes Warren-Walker kids specifically because she says, ”Warren-Walker kids are always so fun and such curious students.”
Mrs. Herrera said, “Kindergarten and 4th grade are different. There are easier and more challenging things about both.” She said it was very special having the same kids she had in Kindergarten in 4th grade and being able to teach them again. Mrs. Herrera is such a kind teacher and says it makes her sad when her students move on to higher grades, which is why she was glad that she could teach the class she had in Kindergarten again!
In conclusion, Mrs. Herrera is a spectacular teacher and wonderful at teaching all grades! Her words of wisdom are “Stay curious” and “Think like a scientist in all things.”
