Dual pitch cricket is the format chosen by the clubs involved.
In this format everyone is always participating at all times either as a fielder, batter or bowler. It cuts out the 'waiting to bat' issue and halves the length of games while still providing the same level of participation.
Setup
Each game has two pitches set up (as pictured above).
Team Blue is fielding on pitch 1. Team yellow is fielding on pitch 2.
Team Blue sends two batters to pitch 2 and Team Yellow sends two batters to pitch 1.
Cones should be placed to indicate where fielders are to stand.
Rules / Guidelines
The aim of the game is to provide every player an equal opportunity to bat, bowl and field.
The game is to be played with a soft cricket ball.
Batters are to bat in pairs:
Superstar grade partnerships = 4 overs.
Kiwi grade partnerships = 2 overs.
When a partnership ends the batters will switch places with two fielders from their team.
An over consists of six balls. All fielders rotate in a clockwise direction after each over.
Extras (wides/no balls etc) are not rebowled. If a ball is deemed unhittable the coach may allow the batter to have a hit from the batting tee.
Cones should be placed to indicate where fielders should stand.
We apply the game on principle. Where teams are unmatched in numbers (i.e. one team has 5 players and the other has 8 players) coaches should work together to get similar numbers.
