The mission of the Wandell School Special Services Department, is to provide special education students with a Free and Appropriate Public Education, as outlined in the law, in the Least Restrictive Environment. The goal is that students will reach their potential, academically, socially and emotionally.
Students with disabilities, to the maximum extent possible, will be provided the opportunity to be educated with age-appropriate, non-disabled peers and will receive all necessary supports and services to benefit from their educational program.
Parents are a valuable and essential part of the educational process and their aspirations for and insights about their children, are important for us to understand, as we plan together for their educational program.
The vision of the Wandell School Special Services Department, is to most appropriately address the academic, behavioral, and social/emotional needs of our students. Through the use of evidenced-based practices, coupled with an enriching curriculum, that focuses on preparing our students for the 21st century.
Education is so much more than reading, writing and math. Our goal as educators is to shape the child into a kind, caring and productive member of society.
