Librarians support life-long learning for everyone! (including themselves!)

What Guides Our Work?

  • Ms. Paradis served as President of MSLA from 2013-2015

Waltham's Library Program:

Every library in Waltham is staffed by a licensed school librarian. Librarians in the elementary school see Kindergarten students weekly. Students in other grades work on collaboratively-planned literacy activities and curriculum projects co-taught by the librarian and classroom teachers. In 2011, Plympton was named one of 35 "outstanding school libraries in the United States" by the American Association of School Libraries. You can read about our "Vision Tour" visit here on page 10 of the MSLA Forum.

Ms. Paradis served as MSLA Appointee to State Legislative Commission on the Status of School Libraries in Massachusetts, 2014-2018. She worked with Dr. Carol Gordon, Dr. Robin Cicchetti (shown here) and representatives from educational and library organizations and agencies to evaluate equitable access to school library programs in Massachusetts. The Commission's final report: The Massachusetts School Library Study: Equity and Access for Students in the Commonwealth is available through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
