Grade 2

Students in grade 2 are seen every day for 45 minutes. Below is a list of skills worked on throughout the year in reading group.

We will continue to work on chunking larger words into syllables and identifying what types of syllables we see in those words. Being able to break larger words into syllables helps students to be able to decode those bigger, tricky words.

  • Summarizing
  • Expanding sentences with who, what, where, when, and why expanders
  • Answering comprehension questions by tagging the question
