Beginning in April, Elm St. School will be participating in an exciting competition called Battle of the Books. This fun literacy program encourages students to read a wide range of genres and authors.
WHAT IS IT?
Students read books and come together in teams to demonstrate their knowledge of the books. This program is for grades 3-5. Students will choose books from a list of 14 titles. The books are available in limited numbers at the Elm St. School Media Center for checkout. Students can check out books in the Elm St. Media Center Monday-Friday 8:15am-8:45am or during their STEM block. Most titles are also available to purchase at Park Street Books in Medfield (504 Main Street) and anywhere books are sold.
Teams will be organized by class and grade. Battle meetings take place during class. Reading takes place at school and at home. There is no cost for this program.
Battle of the Books is fun literary competition and a great way to encourage students to read. Families are welcome to read with students. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm. Please continue to explore this website. Hopefully it will answer all your Battle questions!
