Hello! 

My name is Jane Wrightson and I am excited to help you navigate the 5th grade year. I have lived and taught in several great places, but I am a Bay Area native and I am happy to have settled in Walnut Creek. I have taught fourth, second, and first grades, but I love working with the fifth grade leaders of Murwood. My experience in a high performing charter school in New York City and Masters in Urban Education has helped shape the rigor and achievement that is palpable in Room 20. 

In Room 20 I strive to create an environment that feels like a home away from home. While our curriculum is rigorous, character and citizenship are probably the most important things that we aim to solidify before heading off to middle school. Room 20 fifth graders spend the year in "houses" setting goals together, choosing volunteering opportunities, and learning how to "fix the things we break." Laughter is a pretty important part of our year, too!
