Adaptation Rotations

To make our gecko tape, we poured a quick-setting silicone mix onto a special transparent sheet of 'transmission diffraction grating'. This sheet has over 25,000 tiny ridged lines per inch!
When the silicone molded onto this, one surface got shaped into thousands of tiny nano-ridges, a bit like the feet of geckos. Then we tested how much weight we could hold or drag using our gecko tape.
