The makerspace is an extension of our library and our mission to promote inquiry-driven research, learning and print and digital literacy.
The makerspace materials can be used in the library media center individually, in small groups, as a whole class, or circulated to classrooms, just as traditional library resources would be. The materials support S.T.E.A.M. oriented student learning, free inquiry, and "making" in the areas of: robotics, 3D design, coding, engineering, inventing, crafting, video production, and virtual reality experiences. Additionally, many print books have been added to our collection to inspire ideas and support the making process.
The makerspace resources are also available to students for use in the library media center at lunch and after school during Homework Club.
Wall Intermediate School Technology Teacher, Mrs. Fleming, was granted the 2019 Ocean First grant to bring a Robotics Lab to Wall Intermediate School. The Robotics Lab is housed in the Library Media Center and students have access to the lab's resources during their lunch periods in their robotics classes and clubs.
