Course Description
This course will cover the 6th grade NJSLA English Language Arts standards, including reading, writing, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary. Comprehension and appreciation of various literature types are taught through the study of fiction and nonfiction texts. Students will also develop skills in narrative, research-based information, literary analysis, and argumentative writing styles.
Current Unit of Study
Maintaining an Independent Reading Life & Launching Workshop: The one truly consistent finding in reading research is that reading a lot matters. Reading widely, voraciously, and independently is the primary action that can spark meaningful and lifelong learning. We start with this unit to establish reading routines in our classroom.

Write literary responses based on choice reading novels
