This is an introduction to how school counselors can support students. This classroom lesson gives the students the opportunity to learn how the school counselors can support them, and is a great way to meet the counselors if they haven't already.
College and career exploration is a lifelong process. This lesson explores the process of figuring out what kind of job you might want to have after high school. It encourages students explore who they are, explore the world around them, and put it all together.

The State of Georgia provides YouScience as the platform for School Counselors to support students, track, and report their college and career exploration learning. YouScience provides brain teasers, strengths assessments, and career inventories for each grade level.

In this lesson we explore mindsets and perspectives. The differences between being a victim and a victim mentality are reviewed and discussed. Additionally, we identify what is within our control and what is out of our control. Finally, this lesson will differentiate between being proactive and reactive, and review how we can be proactive in our every day lives.
In this lesson we discuss the differences between rumors and gossip. Defining what a rumor is and what gossip is can help students better understand and identify patterns that create unwanted emotions. Additionally, we review how to break the cycle.
This lesson explores what mindfulness is and how it can support us in dealing with our emotions. Here we educate students on the benefits of experiencing all emotions, and how mindfulness can help accept emotions and prevent them from spiraling out of control.
Guilt and shame are the leading causes of mental health issues. In this lesson we explore healthy vs. unhealthy guilt. Each student will explore their beliefs on success and worth, and how this affects their behaviors. We will discuss how to be resilient to shame, and how changing our beliefs can change our behaviors.
