The Mission of Waldwick High School is to educate and guide students to achieve their fullest potential, become lifelong learners and be responsible, productive citizens in a global society.
Waldwick High School strives to meet the general as well as the individual needs of the students in the community which it serves. Preparation is offered to those who expect to continue their education beyond high school as well as for those who plan to seek employment immediately after graduation.
High school students are faced with many choices and difficult decisions. These decisions will influence the students’ future education, career choice, and personal happiness. Family members are encouraged to share their time, patience and encouragement as these difficult choices are being made.
As you look through the pages that follow, you will find that the information presented will serve as the basis for making realistic course selections. Remember, these selections should only be made after carefully reviewing past achievement, ability, interest and motivation. Your school counselor and teachers are prepared to assist you in the decision making process; however, their task is to help to present choices – not to make decisions for you.
Another important decision for you to make is that of developing the attitudes, technical skills and work ethic, which will contribute to future success.
Keep in mind that your record of accomplishment which begins in grade nine will serve as a prediction of future success to college admissions personnel and/or prospective employers. Therefore, succeeding in a realistic and challenging program of studies is of utmost importance.
All courses require active student involvement and class participation. Students should expect homework, quizzes, exams and related requirements in all subject areas. Therefore, it is essential that student commitment be an integral part of the course selection process.
NOTE: Every effort is made to schedule all subjects selected by students; however, limitations of staff, student enrollment, building space, time and budgetary considerations occasionally make either the cancellation of under-subscribed courses or the substitution of alternate course choices necessary.
