Welcome!
Hello! I am Ms. Kim Young. I have been teaching since 2008 and have taught a wide range of courses and levels. I received my bachelor's degree from the College of Saint Rose in Social Studies 7-12 Education and my master's degree from the University of Albany in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology. Recently, I completed classes and acquired my certification to teach 5th and 6th grade Social Studies. I am so excited to be teaching upper elementary in the 2026-2027 school year!
I also run the WAJ Afterschool Enrichment Program for grades 2-5. On select dates, students engage in a wide variety of activities ranging from STEM challenges to cooking in the cafeteria. We have also walked to the public library for book tasting and crafting, had speakers from inside and outside WAJ, created various works of art, and engaged in theater-based activities, among other activities. It is so much fun! Flyers will be distributed to students with more details about how to sign up.
I live nearby in Conesville with my husband. In addition to teaching, I serve as a Town Historian and I am very active in my local historical society and fire department. Gardening and spending time outdoors are some of my favorite activities outside of school.
I love teaching Social Studies and I am looking forward to a great year with you!
