Improving writing is a process. Each student will be continually assessed to track areas of strength and areas in need of improvement. There will be ample opportunity both inside and outside of class to work on writing practices.
In all courses, my goal is to achieve student mastery of written components. In order to accomplish this, students will have the opportunity to rewrite (as many times as desired) most written assignments for an improved grade. The following criteria must be met in order to qualify for a rewrite:
1) The original assignment was submitted completely, on time, and with quality work.
2) The student has read and reflected on the comments provided independently before meeting with Mrs. G.
3) The student has met with Mrs. G. to discuss the strengths of their work and the areas in need of improvement. This must be done within one week of the assignment being returned.
4) The rewrite has been submitted within the quarter it was assigned.
5) If a student chooses to rewrite multiple times, a meeting with Mrs. G. must take place before each rewrite.
