Our school Cross Country, year 5 and 6 children, May 2018.
Wednesday Bike Club
Every Wednesday we have bike club. Students bring their bike along and after eating we go for a bike ride around the Red Zone Area. The size of the group changes each week.
At the halfway mark there is a Pumptrack provided by the council. It is fun to ride our bikes around this track. Then we head back to school alongside the Wetlands. It is very refreshing and a fun way to exercise.
Jumping for Joy - Waitakiri Hail Storm
On Wednesday 23 May during the day we had a random heavy HAIL STORM. The hail was falling so hard it bouncing as it was hit the surface. The studios poured out into Te O Marama in a huge rush. You could hear the excitement and see the smiles spread over each child's face.
EPRO8 Competition
This competition gives creative and practical students a chance to shine in an exciting, competitive environment. Each team is located at a workstation which contains an impressive assortment of easy to use equipment, including gears, wheels, pulleys, weights, tools, aluminium framing, motors and electronics.
At the start of an event, teams will be given a booklet containing four challenges. Each challenge will be split into parts which range from easy to challenging. Teams choose which challenges they wish to complete. There is strategy involved in deciding which challenges best suit their skills and abilities. Each heat consist of 12 teams, who will compete to earn the most points in the 2 1/2 hour time limit. Teams are made up of four students.
Korimako Teams:
Unwired-Ihaka, Malena, Lashay and Lincoln.
Our challenges were complicated and I think that my favourite was the magician one, so what you had to do was you had a big trolley of electronic things and you had to make a contraption. So we used a coil and stuck it to the bottom of a cup and the token inside magically moved and flipped. We came 6th.
Spark'n' Wires - Hunter, Lucas, Sophie and Helena
I think that EPRO8 is a amazing science and technology challenge to get your brain working. My favourite challenge was building a fire truck and adding all sorts of things like lights, a ladder, sirens, electronics to make it move and much more. We came 7th
