The School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (SLANZA) proposed the collaboration with two local Kāhui Ako (Communities of Learning) in Cambridge & Waimea.
The partnership proposal included the lead librarian developing a “Kete" (a curated collection) of local knowledge that is available to supplement the other resources teachers have as they move into teaching the Local History Curriculum.
This became available to all the school librarians attached to the Kāhui Ako to promote in their school. It included collaboration with the local museum, school archives, local public libraries, alumni, Iwi and National Library online resources.
For the Waimea Kāhui Ako, the lead librarian of this project was Mandy Ditzel, Library Manager at Garin College. We thank Mandy for her contribution to this project which enriched our Waimea Kahui Ako aim to support the embedding of the ANZH curriculum.
