Making a schedule will help you and your family clarify their expectations of the day. Below is a possible timetable that you might like to use. This is just a suggestion, please feel free to modify this to suit the needs of you and your family. You might like to consider building in times for your child/ren to do some learning, some moving, time for them to work independently, and time for them to get attention from you. Consider everyone’s needs including yourself so that your daily schedule has time for you to work, exercise, and do your typical (or close to it) daily life.
Here are a series of videos to help you to support your child with their online learning. If you require further clarification or information please email your child's class teacher.
It is important for us to maintain connection with our classes during distance learning. To facilitate this, we have set up daily a daily meeting time at 1:30pm-2:15pm to meet with our classes in an online space. During this time, we will read together, connect with each other and have the chance to answer questions. Please view this video to see how to access the meeting. It is important that children have their microphones muted unless asking a question. We also ask that students follow the protocol for leaving the meeting by staying in the meeting until the teacher personally waves them goodbye and then the teacher disconnects them from the chat.
It is important that our students have a system to file their documents in their google drive. This means activities are easy to find for students and easy for teachers to access to provide feedback for students. We use the acronym SMRF to help students file documents. They Stop, Make a copy of a document, Rename their document, File it in the appropriate folder. This video gives an overview of this process.
Blogs are the way we share learning. Our Year 3s are very new to blogging. They will only be commenting on the class blog and others blogs with support. Our Year 4s have started individually blogging. With careful support, they will be able to share their learning with a wider audience. Please view this video for an overview of the blogging process.
Sunshine classics provides students with access to texts at levels assigned by their class teacher. Students can read and listen to these online texts, complete follow up activities and record themselves reading to share with their teacher. Please click the video for an introduction to this app.
