Waihola District School

Working and learning together to be the best that we can be!

Welcome to Waihola District School

Waihola District School is a full primary school (Yr 1-8) with generous, attractive learning spaces, inside and out. Nestled among native trees, it overlooks generous grounds, the lake and gentle rolling hills.

Waihola is located on the edge of the Taieri Plains, not far from Sinclair Wetlands. The school has a long history, dating back to 1859, one of the first schools in Otago.

Recently redesigned, our learning spaces, including two classrooms, a hall, library & central learning hub, allow greater collaboration & connection across the school.  Environmental Education and Education for Sustainability are important parts of our school. Our outdoor education areas include raised vegetable gardens, a shade house, tunnel house and native garden.

Our committed, capable staff are supported by an interested and active community. Well-resourced, the school supports all children to "work and learn together to be the best that they can be".

Our school resources are well-used by the local community. Waihola District School provides a meeting place where all may be inspired and supported to become life-long learners.
