Get ready for some holiday magic! The PTO is excited to present Cozy Christmas Movie Day on December 20th!
Students in K-2 will start their morning with muffins and a magical movie, while 3rd-5th graders will enjoy popcorn and a festive film in the afternoon. Don’t forget to wear your favorite pajamas and bring a cozy crew—a small blanket or favorite stuffed animal that fits in your book bag. Let’s snuggle up, enjoy tasty treats, and kick off the holiday season in style. The movie title will be announced soon, so stay tuned!
Second graders proudly paraded through the halls with balloons during the Thanksgiving Parade!
Wahoo Elementary Choir to Perform at Governor's Tree Lighting Ceremony
Mrs. Mattson and the memebers of our 4th & 5th Grade Choir have been asked to perform at the 76th annual tree lighting ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda. The public is invited to attend the event, which is set to take place on December 8th at 1:30p.m. Use the link below to access more details.
Kindergarten students celebrated Thanksgiving early by inviting a guest to their annual Thanksgiving feast on Monday, November 25th. This tradition has been occurring for over 20 years! Students and guests feasted on an assortment of items that students prepared earlier in the day.
Students at Wahoo Elementary were treated to the NED Show on Wednesday, November 20th. During the performance students were introduced to a boy named NED who is on a very important mission: to find his mindset. Students learned how to activate their growth mindset to overcome social, emotional, and academic challenges.
Third Grade Read and Feed
On Monday, November 25th, third graders hosted over 100 guests for their annual Read and Feed. During the event, students performed a play for their guests and then read to their visitors as everyone enjoyed a snack.
Ideas for Winter Break
Winter break means a well-deserved reprieve from homework and daily obligations. But before you know it, the holidays will be over and it will be back to school. To prepare for a smooth re-entry and a successful second semester, don't let school skills like reading, writing, and math slide completely during winter vacation. Try these family-friendly activities to keep skills sharp.
Wahoo Elementary PTO
Wahoo Elementary is fortunate to have a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The PTO supports events and activities for the staff and students throughout the year and we are always looking for new, creative suggestions! Volunteering to be on one of the PTO committees has optimized opportunities for parents and staff to be actively engaged in these events. See below for a list of the committees and examples of the activities they coordinate. Participating in the PTO is a wonderful chance to get to know Wahoo Elementary staff and families! The PTO is also very excited to be embarking on a fundraising campaign to make improvements to the K-2 playground. Stay tuned as we will be coordinating fundraising events throughout the year! If you have an interest in volunteering or would like any information about the PTO, you can either email wahooelempto@gmail.com or contact Renee Stewart at 402-670-4116.
Wahoo Elementary PTO Concession Stand
We need help in the concession stand! The concession stand in Elementary School is one of the PTO's big fundraisers. Please consider volunteering one time or find a friend to team up and support our students. The shifts are flexible if you are not able to stay the entire time. Bethany Rehmann and Kendra Simons will be available to help you.
If you have questions, please contact Bethany Rehmann at bethanyrehmann@gmail.com or 402-981-5376.

The award is given to ONE teacher from either of the school systems per semester. The award includes:

Posts and ads in local newspaper/social media accounts
Before and After School Transportation
Before school we will utilize the circle drive for drop off traffic. In the morning the north lane will be used as a bus loading zone. Please do not use the north lane to drop off students in the morning. The expectation is for all students to enter the building through the main doors on the west side of the building.
After school, all students will exit through the main doors at the front of the building. Students whose last name starts with A-L will be picked up in the circle drive. Students whose last name starts with M-Z will be picked up in the north lane. The bus loading zone will be going north on the side street going toward 23rd street. As a result of this, the north lane pick-up traffic will have to circle back through the north parking lot to exit the school grounds.

Expectations During Extracurricular Activities
When Wahoo Elementary students attend an extracurricular activity it is expected that students watch the event. Parents/Guardians should actively supervise their children before, during, and after the event. All attendees are expected to be respectful and display good sportsmanship. If students are making a poor choice, they will be directed to sit next to their parent for the rest of the event.
Guidelines for Home Football Games:
Students are to stay seated in the bleachers throughout the game.
The grassy berm in front of the concessions area is reserved for only very young children (preschoolers, toddlers) to run and play.
Students are not permitted to run or play catch within the fenced area; these activities may take place outside the stadium fence only.
Weather Guidelines for Recess
During the 2024-2025 season, the following guidelines will be used by staff when making determinations about whether to have outdoor or indoor recess.
