I grew up here in Washington. I attended District 50 schools and WaCoHi. I graduated from WaCoHi in 1993 with honors. I then attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. While at Augustana, I met my wife, Patti. We have been married since 1999 and have four beautiful daughters and one son. I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biological science in 1997. I then worked for Abbott Laboratories for two years.
After Abbott Laboratories I went back to school at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois to obtain my teacher's certification. My first teaching job was teaching science in Oregon, Illinois for one year. I then began working in Erie, Illinois at Erie High School where I taught biology, medical biology, physics, and sometimes chemistry. I taught at Erie for 11 years. During my time at Erie I obtained a master's degree from Saint Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois. I also coached cross country for four years. Recently I completed a graduate certificate program in anatomy & physiology through Shenandoah University in Virginia.
This is my ninth year at Washington Community High School. I am excited to be here and to work in an environment where there is a passion for teaching and learning.
In my free time I enjoy running. I have run a variety of distances including 9 half-marathons and one full marathon. I also enjoy golf, basketball, and playing other sports. I like to read both fiction and non-fiction as well as the Bible and other Catholic books. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my wife and kids.
