Class overview
The focus of study for 7th grade is our nation's history from its beginning through the Reconstruction Period. We will begin with a geography review and "discover" the New World with European explorers and establish colonies. Next, we will focus on the 13 colonies of Britain learning where, why, and how they were established and the events that led to the American Revolution. After we gain our independence, we will establish a new constitution and learn how our government is supposed to operate. We will then study each presidency from Washington to Lincoln. We will finish the year with the Civil War and Reconstruction.
Students have a text book to use in my classroom. For use outside of class, the PDF of the textbook is located on each unit's page on this website. The PDF book will also be loaded into Google Classroom for students to use outside of the classroom when needed. Students without internet at home should download the textbook onto their Chromebook while at school so they have the text later.
