Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement

Hofheimer Library recognizes and respects a wide range of diverse attributes, including the common measures of diversity such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, religious/spiritual affiliation, military/veteran status, national origin, political affiliation, socio-economic status, and emotional, mental, developmental, and physical ability. While recognizing diverse attributes, we also acknowledge that persons are not represented by static and singular characteristics, but rather a complex, dynamic, and overlapping marriage of attributes. Moreover, we acknowledge that diversity includes a wide range of characteristics not commonly measured that are associated with experiences, lifestyles, personality types, learning differences, and more.

Hofheimer Library is committed to diversity and seeks to be inclusive and welcoming of a broad range of persons and perspectives. We understand that barriers exist and strive to identify and find equitable ways of minimizing barriers. In addition, we recognize that people and environments are continuously changing and that our commitment to diversity requires being actively mindful and responsive to this dynamic.

Hofheimer Library’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement and Action Plan was significantly informed and influenced by UCI Libraries Diversity Statement and Plan with some wording taken directly from that document.
