The PSAT is a National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Several scholarships are awarded to eligible juniors based on PSAT scores. This test is administered in October. Students sign up in advance and must pay a small fee set by College Board. Learn more!
Juniors at Van Wert High School will take the ACT online free of charge during the school day on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Sophomores will take the PreACT during the school day on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Students must test in 6 areas prior to graduation: ELA II, Algebra I, geometry, biology, American history, and government. A score of 684 or higher is required in the areas of Algebra I and ELA II for graduation eligibility.
Students test in late March / early April when enrolled in a course with an End of Course assessment. Students who do not score 684 in Algebra I or ELA II and students who have not tested due to absence or moving into the district will retest in December.

Students enrolled in an AP class will test in May. These tests are digital or hybrid depending on subject area. Students in AP have the ability to log into their myAP accounts and use resources to help prepare for the tests.
