Position Description

The Student Ambassadors to the VVSD School Board of Education will act in an advisory capacity to provide student voice on issues brought before the Board. The goal of including Student Ambassadors at the board table is to elevate the input of Valley View’s students in public conversation and decision making.

The Board may not grant the Student Ambassadors any voting privileges but shall consider them as advisors. The Student Ambassadors will participate in the public sessions of the board meetings but may not participate in or attend any executive sessions of the board.

Job Responsibilities

• Attend the public sessions of all Board of Education meetings

• Ask questions and add input from a student point of view

• Meet with school administrators prior to Board of Education meetings

• Present formal reports to the board (with support from board members, district level administrators, and school administrators)

• Attend an introductory workshop in August to prepare for the year

• Provide feedback about the ambassadors program

Eligibility Requirements

• A current sophomore who will attend BHS or RHS as a junior & senior

• On track to graduate

• Participation in clubs, activities, extra-curriculars, athletics, out of school organizations, charitable efforts, and/or community service (preferred)

• Comfortable with verbal communication

• Collaborative approach

• Open to opinions of others

• Willing to engage peers in conversations about important topics
