Welcome to the Coach's Corner Continuous Improvement Center! Probably the biggest question we get as it this: What is a Continue Improvement Coach (formaly known as a Teaching and Learning Coach)? So, we thought we would take a minute and tell you all about our role as your Continues Improvement Coaches. Stated best by Joelle Kion and Cindy Harrison, "Part teacher, part leader, part change agent, and part facilitator, instructional coaches work directly with teachers and students in their classroom to assist with the application of new knowledge and skills necessary to improve the academic performance of students." What does this mean for you? Our goal is to build trusting relationships with teachers and teams in order to take a collaborative approach to planning, teaching and learning. This includes collaborating to try new procatices based on classroom observations, student-specific feedback, and examing student data and behavior.
Michael Romeo
Hello! My name is Michael Romeo, and this will be my third year in this type of position. I have been with Valley View School District my entire career as a Special Education Math Teacher at Bolingbrook High School and Jane Addams Middle School. I received my undergrad at Illinois State University in Special Education and my master's from Concordia University Chicago in Educational Leadership. I look forward to collaborating with everyone to help support our students at BHS!
Aubrey Smith
My name is Aubrey Smith (pronounced AW-BRAY) and I am super excited to be joining the BHS team as one of the Teaching and Learning Coach. This will be my 23rd year in education and I still get excited each new school year. I received my BA in English from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga. I have a Masters in Teaching and a Masters in Administrative Leadership both from National Louis University. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Curriculum, Policy, and Advocacy from National Louis University as well. When I am not in the world of education, I am the biggest live theater buff and try to go to NYC every summer to see the latest Broadway shows. I am a father of a nineteen year old and I absolutely LOVE creating memories with my family and friends. I am excited to see what this year brings
