The school year is officially underway, and there is already plenty of excitement throughout BHS! Over the past few weeks, students have been getting comfortable with their schedules, reconnecting with friends, meeting new teachers, and settling into their daily routines. Our newest students are also learning their way around the building and becoming part of the BHS community. With fall sports underway, the energy on campus continues to grow as our students compete, participate, and show their school spirit. As everyone settles into the school year, we are excited about the opportunities, accomplishments, and experiences that lie ahead. We look forward to a year filled with growth, success, and plenty of reasons to celebrate our students!
Respectfully,
The BHS Counseling Team

Seniors- Counselors will be meeting with our seniors one on one this month. We want to make sure they have a solid plan in place for whatever they are choosing to do after high school. We want them to feel comfortable in knowing everything they have to do, should be doing, and their next steps. We will also be hosting a college application presentation for parents and students the night of September 4th (details in the "what's going on" section below)
Juniors- The Junior students will be attending a presentation which will be walking them through what they need to know for the year regarding their post-secondary planning. They should be taking advantage of all the college representative visits coming to the school. This is the year that they are figuring out where they will receive an education after high school and they should be going to visit every college/trade/or career presentation to be gathering information. This is also the year parents should start signing up to take their students and get onto college campuses to see first hand everything these schools have to offer.
Sophomores- This month our Sophomores will be going to a presentation recapping freshman year, their grades, GPA's, and future success. Now that they have a year of high school under their belts we will be exploring what they have learned and help them start connecting the dots between academic success and future success. Over the course of the year we will be focused on career search in hopes that your student can identify one or two careers of interest by Junior year.
Freshman- The freshman student will receive a presentation on all things high school, the goal is to familiarize them with how high school works for grades, credits, where to find supports, clubs, sports, and much more. We will also be meeting with our freshman one on one starting near the end of the month as a way to check in and see how they are adjusting to high school life and answer any questions they may have.
