Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
The Department of EEE follow a set of well-structured best practices aimed at enhancing academic quality and ensuring holistic student development. These practices focus on strengthening teaching–learning processes and building a vibrant academic culture.
Key initiatives include:
Innovative Teaching Methods: Adoption of interactive and student-centric pedagogies such as peer tutoring, group discussions, “talk-to-learn” sessions to encourage active participation and communication skills.
Recognition and Motivation: Regular appreciation through awards such as Best Achiever Awards for academic excellence, co-curricular, extracurricular, and volunteer activities, fostering a culture of motivation and healthy competition.
Faculty Engagement: Conducting Happy Hour and team-building activities to enhance faculty morale, collaboration, and well-being.
Student Discipline and Participation: Encouraging seating from the front rows, maintaining punctuality, and ensuring effective engagement during lectures and labs.
Energy Conservation and Responsibility: Promoting sustainable practices such as switching off electrical appliances when not in use and sensitizing students to energy efficiency.
Mindfulness Practice: Each class begins with a 1-minute meditation to help students and faculty calm their minds, improve focus, and create a positive atmosphere for learning.
These best practices collectively create a student-focused, performance-driven, and inclusive learning environment that prepares graduates to meet global engineering challenges with competence and confidence.
1 - Minute Meditation
One-Minute Meditation for Mental Refresh and Focus
With increasing academic pressure and digital distractions, maintaining concentration and emotional balance has become essential. One-Minute Meditation serves as a simple wellness practice that can be done anytime to reduce stress and enhance mental clarity.
Outcome:
This small but impactful initiative has contributed to a healthier academic environment by promoting mental well-being, focus, and calmness throughout the day.
Interactive sessions
Interactive Learning Sessions for Enhanced Student Engagement
Conventional teaching often involves one-way communication, leading to limited student interaction and reduced attention span. To improve understanding and participation, interactive teaching techniques are adopted, allowing students to actively contribute and collaborate during learning sessions.
Classes are conducted through question–answer discussions, real-life examples, and problem-solving activities instead of monologue lectures.
Group discussions, quizzes, brainstorming sessions, and live demonstrations are integrated into lessons.
Students are encouraged to express opinions, ask doubts freely, and present short topics to their peers.
Outcome:
The shift from passive learning to interactive classroom sessions has created a student-centered learning environment, enhancing critical thinking, curiosity, and overall academic performance.
Peer Tutoring
Peer Tutoring for Collaborative Learning and Academic Support
Some students face difficulties in grasping technical or theoretical concepts during regular classroom sessions. Faculty time constraints and large class sizes can limit individualized attention. Peer tutoring provides a collaborative solution — enabling students to learn from their peers in an informal, comfortable setting that promotes confidence and clarity.
Outcome:
Peer tutoring has fostered a supportive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging knowledge-sharing, mutual growth, and active participation among students.
Talk to learn
Talk to Learn – Enhancing Communication and Conceptual Understanding through Student Presentations
Many students possess good technical knowledge but lack the confidence or communication skills to express their ideas clearly. The Talk to Learn initiative bridges this gap by giving every student a chance to articulate what they have learned, thereby reinforcing conceptual understanding through verbal expression.
Practice:
At the end of each class, 12 students are assigned to the subject-handling faculty.
Each student is given a specific topic related to the lesson taught during the week.
Students prepare short presentations or explanations and speak in front of the class for 2–3 minutes.
Faculty members guide them, provide feedback on content clarity, body language, and confidence.
This activity promotes active learning, boosts public speaking, and strengthens peer learning.
Participation is rotated so that all students get equal opportunities throughout the semester.
Outcome:
The Talk to Learn practice has created an interactive and participative learning atmosphere. It not only reinforces subject knowledge but also helps students build communication, confidence, and presentation skills essential for professional growth.
Top 6 students in each CIE
Appreciation of Top 6 Performers in Every Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE)
Continuous Internal Evaluation plays a vital role in assessing students’ understanding of the subject. Recognizing high achievers after each CIE not only rewards academic excellence but also encourages others to strive for better results, fostering a culture of motivation and hard work.
Practice:
After each CIE, marks are consolidated by the class teachers.
The top six scorers in every subject are identified based on their performance.
Their names are displayed on departmental notice boards or digital displays as a form of appreciation.
During class announcements or department meetings, faculty acknowledge and appreciate these top performers.
The initiative promotes a positive academic environment and encourages continuous preparation rather than last-minute study.
Outcome:
The recognition of top six students in each CIE has instilled a sense of achievement and responsibility among students. It has enhanced academic focus, discipline, and motivation, leading to an overall improvement in performance across the department.
Best achiever awards
Recognition of Best Achievers in Academics, Co-curricular, Extracurricular, and Volunteer Activities
True education goes beyond academics. Students who actively participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, as well as volunteer work, develop leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility. Recognizing such achievements alongside academic excellence helps create a balanced and inspiring learning environment.
Outcome:
The Best Achiever Awards initiative has successfully created a culture of appreciation and motivation within the institution. It recognizes all-round excellence, fosters leadership qualities, and encourages students to pursue success in academics, talent, and service.
Happy Hour for Staffs
Happy Hour – Fun and Relaxation Activities for Faculty Well-being
Teaching and administrative responsibilities often bring stress and workload for faculty and staff. Maintaining mental well-being and a sense of togetherness is essential for productivity and a healthy workplace culture. The Happy Hour initiative provides a refreshing break from routine work, helping staff unwind, connect, and rejuvenate.
Practice:
A “Happy Hour” session is conducted every first Thursdays of each month for all faculty and supporting staff.
The session includes interactive games, team-building activities, music, and light entertainment.
Faculty members actively participate in fun quizzes, role plays, or simple competitions designed to promote laughter and relaxation.
Refreshments are arranged to create a friendly, informal atmosphere.
Outcome:
The Happy Hour for Staff initiative has proven effective in fostering happiness, teamwork, and emotional well-being among faculty. It strengthens interpersonal relationships, boosts morale, and contributes to a more positive and energetic academic environment.
