Course Title: Integrated Math I (P)
Course Title: Integrated Math Principals (P)
Course Number: 3298/3299
Grade Level: 9
Elective/Required: Required
Length/Credits: Year/10 credits
Course Description:
This college-preparatory course focuses on key math content that students need to have mastered in order to be successful in the sequence of Integrated Math courses. Designed exclusively for 9th grade students who seek a better grasp of math concepts prior to enrolling into Integrated Math 1. This course makes explicit foundations necessary for taking Integrated Math 1. A review of math concepts from previous years is combined with topics relevant to success in Integrated Math 1 and Math 2. Students will preview essential Integrated Math 1 standards. For example, fractions and fraction operations are reviewed as a precursor to working with rates of change and slopes, which is a focus of Integrated Math 1. This course will focus on the development of understanding of integers and rational numbers, solving one and two step equations and inequalities, rates of change, linear equations and their different representations, Pythagorean Theorem, exponents, and authentic applications of these math skills. The Mathematical Practice Standards apply throughout each unit and, together with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that makes use of their ability to make sense of problem situations. Students will communicate their thinking both orally and in writing and will explore how algebra and geometry are used in a variety of real-life scenarios.

Course Title: Mathematics for Personal Finance
Course Number: 3296/3297
Grade Level: 10-11
Elective/Required: Elective/Required
Length/Credits: Year/10 credits
Course Description:
Mathematics for Personal Finance is a mathematical modeling course that is algebra-based, applications-oriented, and technology-dependent. The course addresses college preparatory mathematics topics from Advanced Algebra, Statistics and Probability, under four financial umbrellas: “Saving and Budgeting”, “Credit and Debt”, “Financial Planning and Insurance”, and “Income, Taxes and Giving”. The course allows students to experience the interrelatedness of mathematical topics, find patterns, make conjectures, and extrapolate from known situations to unknown situations. The mathematics topics contained in this course are introduced, developed, and applied in an as-needed format in the financial settings covered. Students are encouraged to use a variety of problem-solving skills and strategies in real-world contexts, and to question outcomes using mathematical analysis and data to support their findings. The course offers students multiple opportunities to use, construct, question, model, and interpret financial situations through symbolic algebraic, graphical, and verbal representations.
Course Title: Pre Calculus (P)
Course Number: 3302/3303
Grade Level: 11 - 12
Elective/Required: Elective
Length/Credits: One year/10 credits
Course Description:
The fundamental purpose of the Pre-Calculus course is to build on the trigonometric, geometric, and algebraic foundations needed to prepare for the study of Calculus. This course includes standards from the conceptual categories of Number and Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Geometry, Statistics and Probability, and Calculus. Facility with these concepts is especially important for students intending to prepare for a STEM-related career (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The four critical focus areas are: (1) develop further understanding of polynomial, logarithmic and exponential functions; (2) develop an understanding of trigonometric functions and the use of trigonometric properties to solve problems; (3) understand the use of vector properties to solve vector-related problems; and (4) develop the concept of limit.
