From October 2025 to January 2026, community members generated a list of 22 action ideas and whittled it down to the 2 priorities below that offer opportunities to enhance existing resources and strengthen the town through exciting new ventures. These groups are now lead at the local level by co-chairs whose contacts are listed below.

Task Force Descriptions:
Expand Housing Opportunities
A group could form to create more housing opportunities in New Haven. Ideas include rehabilitating old barns for housing, partnering with Habitat for Humanity, creating a housing trust, supporting clustered housing and infill near the village centers, increasing senior housing, and pursuing zoning changes to allow more multi-family housing.

Create Community Gathering Spaces
Community members are interested in spaces for all ages to gather. Residents noted existing spaces such as the town hall, churches, library, school, and depot. Additional ideas include a coffee shop, event space, history museum, pub, or maker space, and recreational ideas such as space for roller-skating, bowling, or ping-pong. A group could evaluate how to better use the existing spaces for community gathering, or create a new space to meet community needs.
