VCRD's Community Visit program is a three-month series of public meetings that includes:
Wed, July 28th, 2:30-8:30pm
Community shared challenges and ideas in focus forums.
Mon, August 23rd, 6:30-9:00pm
Community members prioritized action items and sign up for task forces.
Mon, Sept 20th, 6:30-9:00pm
Task forces created action plans and worked with a Resource Team to identify next steps.
On July 28th, Bradford community members came together to discuss assets, challenges, and ideas for their future in 6 sessions on topics chosen in advance by a steering committee of local leaders including Infrastructure & Connectivity; Creative Economy: Arts & Entertainment; Housing & Lodging; Recreation & Youth; Economic Development, Workforce & Jobs; and Inclusivity & Welcoming. They were joined by a listening team of federal, state, business, nonprofit and philanthropic leaders. See notes from the forums here.
On Monday, August 23rd, from 6:30-9:00pm, Bradford community members met under a tent at Elizabeth's Park to review, discuss, and vote to prioritize ideas for action shared at the first forums in July. Participants had the opportunity to "champion" ideas that they felt were important, before two rounds of dot voting to select three priorities around which to form locally-driven task forces to advance work. The three priorities chosen were:
Boost Town Capacity
Advance Resiliency, Sustainability, Alternative Energy & Agriculture
Expand & Improve Recreation Facilities & Build a Skate Park
You can read more about each task force and sign up to join them here.
On Monday, September 20th, from 6:30-9:00pm, Bradford community came back together virtually for the final step in the Moving Forward together process. Each of the three task forces chosen on August 23rd met for the first time to begin to build action plans, set the scope of their work, and met with a visiting team of resource providers and experts to identify available resources and funding opportunities. The Moving Forward Together Report and Action Plan includes the action plans and resource team recommendations and contact information.
