VCRD's Community Visit program is a three-month series of public meetings that includes:

Community Visit Day - March 29, 2022

On March 29, Highgate community members came together to discuss assets, challenges, and ideas for their future in 4 in-person forums and a Zoom forum. Topics were chosen in advance by a steering committee of local leaders and included: Community Fun: Recreation, Pride, Tourism & Quality of Life; Healthy & Safe Community; Youth, Education & Career Training; Economic Development, Ag Viability & Infrastructure. Community members also gather for a free community dinner with live music. The forums were joined by a listening team of federal, state, business, nonprofit and philanthropic leaders. Community Meeting Day - April 26, 2022

Highgate community members will come together to review, discuss, and vote to prioritize ideas for action shared in March forums. Through a dot-voting exercise, participants whittled down a list of action ideas to a few priorities and then signed up to join local task force groups that will move them forward. Read action ideas that meeting participants reviewed for prioritization and the priorities they chose to move forward.

Community Resource Meeting and Task Force Launch - May 24, 2022

Highgate community members came together for the final step in the process - starting with pizza @ 6:30pm. Each of the new task force groups began to build action plans, set the scope of their work, and met with a visiting team of resource providers and experts to identify available resources and funding opportunities. From here forward, all action is focused at the local task force level.
