 Parents who read one pcture book with their child EVERY DAY will expose their child to approximately 78,000 different words each year.  From birth to kindergarten those children will have been exposed to 1.4 million more words than children who are not exposed to books.  It is a fact that reading to your child will directly impact their future language skills and academic success. 

1. Read to them daily-even before they can talk.

2. Encourage questions-don't spoon feed answers.

3. Cut screen time, increase real-world play.

4. Teach them how to think, not what to think.

5. Let them solve problems on their own.

6. Expose them to music and instruments.

7. Make learning fun with games and stories.

8. Speak using rich, varied vocabulary.

9. Praise effort, not just intelligence.

10. Feed their curiousity- not their schedule.
