Meet Dr. Robin Panneton
PSYCHOLOGY
Dr. Panneton is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology and the Co-Director of the iLanguage Environment Attention Parenting (iLEAP) Lab. Her interests involve understanding how infants and toddlers pay attention to critical aspects of speech as they learn to be receivers and producers of their own languages. Most recently, she is a sub-contract on a large, multi-lab NIH funded project examining the development of infant/toddler multisensory integration of social and non-social sources of information and how this skill relates to language learning. Dr. Panneton is a long-standing member of the Language Sciences Faculty at Virginia Tech and a recent collaborator of Drs. Michelle Lenhart and Diane Millar at Radford University’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Dr. Panneton is an award-winning instructor, and teaches courses in Language Development, Developmental in Poverty and Developmental Plasticity.

Survey of theories, mechanisms, and processes in human language development. Empirical overview of phonology, semantics, syntax, and pragmatics. Developmental trajectories of mono-and multilingual children. Cultural constraints on language. Perception of language and production of language, in typical and atypical subpopulations (e.g., hearing impairment). Junior/Senior Standing.
