The purpose of this informal seminar is to encourage VT math graduate students to give talks to a graduate-student and postdoc only audience. Graduate students will get a chance to give a 25 minute talks with 5 minutes for questions. These talks are a great opportunity for students to practice for conference presentations, share their research with other graduate students and connect with their peers. Location: MCB 455 (unless changes are made).

Hi, I'm Anayse! I'm a 3rd-year Masters student in the Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech. My research area is in mathematical biology with a focus on population modeling. I am currently researching integral projection models (IPMs) under Dr. Lauren Childs. Outside of math I enjoy cooking, hanging out with friends and playing intramural sports. I’m very excited to help form the Graduate Student Seminar to help other grads practice their presentation skills in a safe and welcoming environment.
Hi, I am Julia and I am a 3rd-year Masters student in the Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech. My research area is coding theory with a focus on network communications. My advisor is Prof. Gretchen Matthews. My hobbies including intramural sports and hanging out with friends. I am looking forward to forming this seminar to give other graduate students a chance to give talks to their peers, preparing them for upcoming conferences and academic events.
