Universal Design for Learning

Use the content menu tabs at the top of the page to explore how UDL can be applied in a variety of environments in education.

"Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides the opportunity for all students to access, participate in, and progress in the general-education curriculum by reducing barriers to instruction. Learn more about how UDL offers options for how information is presented, how students respond or demonstrate their knowledge and skills, and how students are engaged in learning."

The IRIS Center offers Universal Design for Learning: Creating a Learning Environment that Challenges and Engages All Students, a free module that examines the three principles of Universal Design for Learning. Related service providers may refine their understanding of how to apply these principles to student goals, instructional materials, instructional methods, and assessments to better serve their students and support educators.

Cult of Pedagogy

"When we design the same learning pathways for all learners, we might tell ourselves we are being fair, but in fact, single pathways are exclusionary. "
