Adjunct Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Virginia Tech
Mohammad Abdel-Rahman is a Professor in the Data Science Department at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT). He also holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at Virginia Tech. His research focuses on the integration of artificial intelligence and operations research to tackle complex problems in fields such as networking, communications, energy, healthcare, and transportation.
Before joining PSUT in 2022, Prof. Abdel-Rahman worked as a Research Faculty Member in the ECE Department at Virginia Tech from 2015 to 2017. He then held academic and leadership roles at Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), from 2017 to 2022, where he served as the Founding Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department and the Director of the Wireless Networks and Security Research Laboratory.
Prof. Abdel-Rahman earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2014, with a minor in operations research and mathematics. He received the College of Engineering Outstanding Graduate Student Award. He is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA). Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking (AI-empowered resource management track), IEEE Access, and Wireless Personal Communications (Springer Nature). Additionally, he regularly contributes to the technical program committees of major international conferences.
