With the task to conduct a community project for First-Year Leadership Experience (FLEX) club, we immediately wanted to do something to engage the Virginia Tech community with art. Our goal for this project is to create a compilation of pieces from students of all majors, years, and identities. We want to express all voices in the Virginia Tech community with these pieces to emphasize the array of experiences, stories, and ideas we have. We want to create an outlet for artists of all media to showcase their work and experiences through art and music. This is a Capstone project created by Olivia Thacker and Maggie Lum, and we are so excited to display the work created by these talented artists.
Olivia is a first-year majoring in Architecture with a minor in Ecological Cities. She loves drawing, painting, recreational plant growing, fashion, and all things design. She is an advocator for the arts and created this magazine to foster a community-shared art platform.
Maggie is a first-year majoring in computer science with a minor in music. She loves to play the flute and the guitar and is a lover of visual art as well. She got involved in this project because she appreciates all kinds of art and believes it should be shared.
